I totally understand and share in your dilemma, Linda. There are thousands in our local community who need immediate help. So many, in fact, that it would take a billionaire to help more than a select few. I normally hand a dollar or two out my truck window if I'm stopped near a sign wielding person. I believe it is right to help but not be overwhelmed in the process.
That sounds about wise. Yet I often feel God pushing me to embody grace, to BECOME the person in the ditch as ancient Jews would have interpreted the parable. That's my dilemma and I do the best I can, but it never seems enough. I think we must remember that God cares for the birds of the air so that one small act of kindness DOES count in the Book of Life. Thanks for your comment! Linda
It feels so heartbreaking to not be able to save the world. I guess we just do our best to help those we can help. Without Brad, I can't go very far in helping--but he'd say the same thing as your husband. Even though he was more of a softie than I am. Hope you're getting through it. Some days, like today, I'm not as strong as I want to be. Much Love, Linda

I wrestle with this daily-my husband used to say, "Pam you can't save the world" but oh how I have tried.
Pam,
